Japanese Braised Pork with Lotus Root

Cooked Lotus root is mild and good for lung. Braise together with the tender pork collar butt, healthy and delicious!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Peel and cut the lotus root and carrot into pieces. Cut the onion into pieces. Flatten the garlic and slice the leek.

Step 2
Rinse and cut the pork collar butt into pieces. Marinate with 1 tbsp Japanese soy sauce, 1 tbsp sake, 1 tbsp mirin, 1/2 tbsp sugar and sesame oil for 15 minutes.

Step 3
In a pan, add some oil on medium heat. Add garlic, onion and sauté until fragrant. Add pork collar butt and sauté until fragrant.

Step 4
Add lotus root, carrot and stir-fry.

Step 5
Add water, the remaining Japanese soy sauce, sake, sugar and mirin. Bring it to boil.

Step 6
Reduce to medium low heat, cover the lid and cook for 30 minutes.

Step 7
Remove the lid, add the leek and mix well. Ready to serve.
