Sweet and Sour Cabbage Roll

Chinese cabbage original from China, we also called it as “Nappa cabbage”, “Celery cabbage” in Hong Kong. It is welcomed by the northerner during winter season because of easy storage. Nappa cabbage rich in vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and other nutrients. It is good for skin, release body swelling. Its fiber can increase gastrointestinal motility. This recipe cooks with a light sweet and sour sauce which makes this vegan dish healthier.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Clean the cabbage and separate the leaves. Divided the leaves and the white part.

Step 2
Peel and shred the carrot. Cut the asparagus into sections. Soak the black fungus until soft and slice. Beat the egg and cook into egg skin then slice it.

Step 3
Boil the napa cabbage in boiling water until fully cooked. Drain and set aside.

Step 4
In the same pot, add some salt and blanch the asparagus, black fungus. Drain and set aside.

Step 5
Slice the white part of the cabbage.

Step 6
Place the carrot, asparagus, cabbage stem, black fungus, shredded egg on top of the cabbage leaf and wrap it.

Step 7
In a pan, add the sweet and sour ingredients including Chinese cooking wine, light soy sauce, sugar, white vinegar and bring it to simmer. Turn off the heat, add the cabbage roll and let it marinate for 30 minutes.

Step 8
Cut the cabbage roll in half, transfer to the plate, drizzle the sweet and sour sauce on top and ready to serve.
