Peel the taro and cut into 1-cm wide pieces

Add sugar

Step 4
Deep fry the taro in 180 degree Celsius oil until golden on the outside, about 3-4 minutes

Step 5
Drain and remove excess oil

Step 6
Using the same sauté pan, heat up 1 tablespoon oil on high heat. Add sugar to cook until sugar begins to melt and forms rough pieces

Step 7
Add fried taro and mix well, continue to cook on high heat.

Step 8
Once the sugar is nicely coated on top of the taro, remove from heat immediately

Step 9
Transfer to serving plate

Ready to serve
