Special Twist Cherrie Pies

Cherries are one of summer’s favourite fruit. Cherry pie is just another way to eat this tasty fruit. Using this twisting technique of the pastry crust gives it a fun and modern presentation to this classic dessert.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Wash the cherries and remove the stem and seed

Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, corn starch, cinnamon salt and vanilla, mix well

Step 3
Then add the cherries and mix together with the sugar

Step 4
Pour the cherries into the pie shell

Step 5
dot the butter around the top of the pie

Step 6
Roll the pie dough and cut it in a ½” strip. Take a strip and gently twist it and lay it at the center of the pie and spiral it around, continuous the next strip until it fills the top of the pie

Step 7
Brush the egg wash on top of the pie, make sure brush the edge of the pie as well

Step 8
Preheat the oven at 180C, and bake the pie for about an hour to hour and a half until it turns golden brown

Step 9
At the meantime, heat up the apricot jam

Step 10
glaze the apricot jam on the pie
