Sift flour, cocoa powder and salt

In a mixing bowl , beat butter and sugar with a hand mixer until fluffy

Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until smooth

In another mixing bowl, mix food color with butter milk

Step 5
Alternately add flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture in two separate additions

Step 6
In a small cup or bowl, combine baking soda with vinegar

Step 7
Mixture will fizz and fold immediately into cake batter

Step 8
Work quickly and divide into cupcake pans filling ¾ way full

Step 9
Bake immediately in oven for about 15-18 minutes

Step 10
llow the cupcakes to cool then decorate as desired
