Parma Ham and Asparagus Fusilli in Béchamel Sauce

Valentine’s Day dinner is not necessary to be fancy. Just like this recipe, with simple ingredients, you can still show your love.

Step 1
In a pot, add the milk and bring it to simmer on low heat.

Step 2
Add the onion, cloves, bay leaves, thyme and nutmeg. Simmer for 5 minutes, remove from the heat and let it sit for 10 minutes. Discard the herbs.

Step 3
In another pot, melt the butter over medium heat and add the flour to make a roux.

Step 4
Gradually add the milk and whisk until there is no lump and set aside.

Step 5
Finely dice the onion. Clean and cut the asparagus in section. Mince the garlic and cut 2 slices Parma ham in pieces.

Step 6
In a pot, bring the water to boil. Add some salt and cook the fusilli for 8-10 minutes, drain and set aside.

Step 7
In a pan, melt the butter on a medium heat. Sauté the garlic and Parma ham until fragrant. Add the asparagus and stir.

Step 8
Add the fusilli and béchamel. Mix well.

Step 9
Transfer to the plate. Shape the remaining Parma ham into a flower and place it on the side.

Step 10
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese, chopped parsley and ready to serve.
