Step 1
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the meatballs together except for the bread crumbs. Combine until well mixed together. Add the bread crumbs a little bit at a time to make sure the meat mixture won’t get too dry. Season with salt and black pepper.

Step 2
Roll the meat mixture with your hands to make small meatballs, about 1-inch in diameter.

Step 3
In a large skillet, heat some olive oil over medium high heat. Brown the meatballs until golden brown on all sides. Set aside.

Step 4
Using the same pan add in chopped onions and garlic for the sauce. Sauté until soft. Season with sugar, salt and black pepper.

Step 5
Add in the can of chopped tomatoes and bring the sauce to a boil. Add the meatballs back into the sauce and let cook for another 20 minutes or so.

Step 6
Add in some basil leaves and simmer for 10 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper and balsamic vinegar.

Step 7
Remove from heat and spoon the meatballs and the sauce onto a serving plate. Sprinkle on top some parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Serve with bread or you may serve with spaghetti.
