Braised Spare Ribs with Pickled Cabbage is a famous Northeastern Chinese dish. The hot braised spareribs with a bowl of rice makes a perfect meal in winter.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Peel and slice the ginger. Cut the dried chili pepper in half. Cut the leeks in section. Clean and chop the cilantro.

Step 2
Soak the dried potato noodle in warm water for 15 minutes until soft. Slice the pickled cabbage.

Step 3
In a pot, add water and Chinese cooking wine and blanch the pork sparerib. Drain and set aside.

Step 4
In a pan, add some oil and sauté the ginger, leeks, star anise until fragrant. Add the spareribs and cook until golden brown.

Step 5
Add the pickled cabbage and cook until fragrant.

Step 6
Add enough water to cover the ingredients and bring it to boil over high heat.

Step 7
Add the dried chili pepper then reduce the heat to low. Cover the lid and cook for 40 minutes.

Step 8
Add the dried potato noodle and cook for another 10 minutes.

Step 9
Season with salt, sprinkle with cilantro and ready to serve.
