Braised Sparerib with Daikon & Leek

Like to use daikon to cook with meat stew for absorb the meat juice. Daikon releases its own sweetness and absorbs the sauce flavor. This time add lots of ginger, garlic, star anise, cinnamon stick and other spices, gives the spareribs the richer flavor.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Clean the spareribs and blanch for 3 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Step 2
Peel and cut the daikon into pieces. Cut the leeks into section. Peel and slice the ginger and garlic. Cut the dried chili pepper half. Chop the cilantro.

Step 3
In a pan, add some oil and sauté the ginger, garlic, dried chili pepper, star anise, cinnamon stick and leeks.

Step 4
Add the spareribs and can cook until golden brown.

Step 5
Add the dark soy sauce, sugar, Chinese cooking wine and enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring the sauce to boil then reduce the heat to low. Cover the lid and cook for 30 minutes.

Step 6
Add the daikon and cook for another 20 minutes until the daikon is soften. Season with salt.

Step 7
Sprinkle with cilantro and ready to serve.
