Bacon Potato Roll (Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma)

We have been told that failure is the mother of success. This apply to a lot of classic cuisine. In FOOD WAR, the protagonist learnt from the past fail experience, use potato to absorb bacon’s fat, add in mushroom and onion, successfully bake such amazing bacon potato roll.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Wash potatoes and put them into a pot cook for 10 minutes with salt water that cover potatoes. Preheat oven to 180°C.

Step 2
Dice the onion and mushroom.

Step 3
Heat the pan with olive oil, slightly and evenly stir-fry diced onion and mushroom with salt and black pepper.

Step 4
Peel the boiled potatoes, add into the onion and mushroom, mash and mix evenly. Hold the mash potato between hands and create a little oval. Repeat till all mashed potato is shaped.

Step 5
Put a slice of bacon to an empty bowl. Put the oval mashed potato on the bacon, roll it inside the bacon, and use a string to tie it up.

Step 6
Bake the tied rolls for 50 minutes in the oven, take them out and cut the string

Step 7
Heat rice wine, red wine, sake and dark soy sauce in a pan with low heat.

Step 8
Pour the sauce on the baked roll. Ready to serve.
