Azuki Bean Yokan (Soft Red Bean Jelly)

Yokan is a traditional Japanese dessert. This classic flavour, Azuki Bean (Red Bean) Yokan, uses red bean paste, which has lots of health benefits.

Step 1
In a pot, whisk together the water and agar agar.

Step 2
Bring it to simmer until the agar agar is completely dissolved.

Step 3
Add the red bean paste and stir until it dissolved.

Step 4
Add pinch of salt and let it cool for 3-5 minutes.

Step 5
Pour the half of the mixture in the mold, let cool in room temperature for 5 minutes until it set.

Step 6
Add the chestnut evenly on top and pour the rest of the mixture to cover the chestnut.

Step 7
Let cool in room temperature and refrigerated for 2 hours or completely chilled.

Step 8
Cut the yokan into pieces and serve cold.
