Spanish Beef and Cheese Empanadas

Spanish Empanadas are originated from Galicia, located in the northwest part of Spain, with a great variety of filling, ranging from minced meat, chorizo to seafood with different vegetables. This recipe is using beef and cheese, incorporating meat flavor and cheese perfectly. A superb tapa indeed!

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Place a baking paper on a baking tray and set aside.Chop red bell pepper, green bell pepper, red onion and carrot. Set aside.

Step 2
In a pan, add some oil on a medium heat. Sauté the chopped red bell pepper, green bell pepper, red onion, carrot and garlic for 5 minutes.

Step 3
Add the minced beef and sauté for 3 minutes.

Step 4
Add tomato sauce, salt and black pepper. Mix well.

Step 5
Use a circular mold to cut 9cm rounds from pastry.

Step 6
Add filling and cheese on the rounds. Fold in half and the pleats on the edge.

Step 7
Use a fork to seal the edges.

Step 8
Place on the baking tray and brush with egg wash.

Step 9
Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Ready to serve.
