Braised Pork Spareribs with Vegetables

First time having this dish at a Northeast dumpling restaurant. This dish actually is the meaning of mix together and as a well-known dish at Northeast China. Cook together the vegetable and meat which can perform the character of the Northeast people.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Clean the corn and cut into sections. Trim the ends of the string bean and cut into sections. Peel the potato and carrot and cut into pieces. Cut the eggplant into pieces.

Step 2
Rinse and drain the spareribs and set aside.

Step 3
Cut the leek and cilantro into section. Peel and slice the ginger.

Step 4
In a shallow pan, add some oil and sauté the leeks, ginger, Sichuan pepper, cinnamon stick, star anise, spareribs and cook until golden brown. Remove the spareribs and set aside.

Step 5
Place the spices in the fish bag to form the spices bag.

Step 6
In the same pan, add the soy bean paste, eggplant, potato, string bean, corn, carrot and cook until the vegetable has coated with the soy bean paste.

Step 7
Add the spareribs and spices bag. Add enough water, dark soy sauce and bring it to boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low and cover the lid, cook it for 40-60 minutes until the vegetable is tende

Remove the spices bag. Sprinkle with cilantro and ready to serve.
