Simple Chinese Rice Dumplings

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1
Wash and rinse the rice and soak it overnight with mushroom and scallop together in a large bowl

Drain off the water, dice the mushroom

Add salt and soy sauce into the rice and let it marinade then set aside

Soak the split green pea for 2 hours

Step 5
drain and add chicken powder and ginger powder and mix well

cut the pork belly in pieces and marinade with soy sauce, sugar, five spice powder and mix together

In a large pot, boil the bamboo leaves for 10 minutes, then rinse with cold water, set aside

Soak the waterweed strings for 10-20 minutes, set aside

Step 9
Place 2 bamboo leaves together and form a triangle and hole on hand

Add one spoon of the rice, then add a bit of green peas, scallop, mushroom, pork and duck egg

Add another spoon of rice to cover, but make sure don’t over float

Then fold the leaves to cover and wrap with the waterweed string

Place the rice dumpling in a large pot and fill up with water,Cook it for about 1.5 hours, keep adding water if the water level is getting low

Turn off heat and let it sit in the hot water for another 1-2 hours, make sure the water is cover the dumpling

Drain, unwrapped and ready to serve
